Madhvi’s works revolve around her childhood memory, women’s craft, folk art, and Indian myths. She was influenced by Paul Klee and Francesco Clemente. Her inspirations were traditional art but her style was contemporary. There are many works that represent folk art although they are not drawn from any specific folk tradition.
Madhvi was born in a village named Sanjaya in Gujarat. Her father was a Gandhian school teacher and postmaster. She married Manu Parekh in 1957 at the age of 15. She did a course in Montessori training in Mumbai.
Initially, she was not aspired to become an artist but due to her husband’s inspiration, she chose this field. Madhvi participated in many solo and group shows such as Play Turkey and Yugoslavia in 1985, Watercolours by Four Women Artists, Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal in 1987, and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in 1987.
